Smashbox is known for their face primers, and this Photo Finish Hydrating Primer is the newest added to their collection. I was excited to try this out, being that my skin is dry and gets even drier in the winter. The Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer works great on my skin, so I expected this one to be even better considering it is supposed to be hydrating.
This is described as:
The latest addition to our legendary primer family immediately quenches skin and seals in moisture for hours after, thanks to Hydraplex, an extract derived from desert plants. Oil-free and lightweight, helps fill in fine lines and pores.
My Review:
It has a gel-like consistency and feels cool to the skin. Once I rubbed it in and it started to absorb, it made my skin feel more even and soft. I love that it's really lightweight and sinks into my skin right away. I used a drugstore foundation (Maybelline FIT Me) and wore it for about 9 hours. My foundation seemed to not budge a bit, and my face still looked quite dewy and awake. Which must mean the "hydration" part of this primer must of worked. I did still had a few dry spots by my nose, but this is a foundation primer, not a moisturizer. So I did use more moisturizer before I put this on which helped.
I have to say I really like this primer and have been using it ever since I got it. This really works for the type of skin I have, so it will depend on how this will be for you. Everyone's skin is different.
This cost $42 and you can find it online or Sephora. You could probably find a cheaper primer at the drugstore, if you didn't want to pay the price. I think this is a great primer and it will last you a while being that you only use a pea size each time.
Hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you think of this primer!

This primer sounds great! I have actually had my eye on this primer for quite awhile. Now after reading your review, I may just have to pick it up and try it out for myself :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to try smashbox's primer! nice post ^_^
ReplyDeleteI didn't find it "hydrating" but it's still an okay primer. I agree you could find an equal or better one at the drugstore.
