Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks in Siren and Rapture - Review and Swatches

December 30, 2010

Another new addition to Covergirl, are the Lip Perfection lipsticks. There are 44 shades ranging from browns, lilacs, nudes, reds, pinks, and more. What impressed me the most was the packaging. I love that it has a modern, sleek case and the color of what lipstick it is on the bottom. My eyes were completely fixated on getting a nude and I was certain that's what I was going to buy. I knew it, my Mother knew it, everyone knew I would get a nude lip color. But as the New Year is fast approaching I told myself, "No, get something bold that you wouldn't get." So I went for more bold colors.

Brand Bests #12 - Milani Cosmetics

December 3, 2010

In the past, I had always looked over Milani Cosmetics and not really paid attention to the kind of products that they carry. Now I know that they do have some really great products that are quality products with the drugstore price. I’m happy to hear a lot more about the brand through YouTube reviews and many other bloggers. Just know, that I have not tried everything from this brand, so these are just a few products that I have tried, loved, and still use to this day.

Milani EYE TECH Liquid Liner ($6.99)
I have to say that this is one of THE best liquid liners I have ever used. I will not trade for a different liner, I have this in my makeup bag and use it everyday. I did a liquid liner test a while back, Um like a year back (here is the post) and that test proved that price and brand does not mean a thing. I will never stop re-purchasing this liner and I hope they never stop making it! Haha =D

Milani 3D Glitzy Glamour Gloss ($6.99)
These came out with their Spring line this year, and I had bought a few right when I saw them. They give you super shiny and glossy lips without all the stickiness some lip glosses can have. I love these, and all the colors are very wearable.

Milani Secret Cover Concealer Compact ($4.99)
I just recently bought this at my local Walgreens and it was on sale for $2.30, so I figured why not give it a try. I was actually really surprised that I like the formula. It gives full coverage and it's very easy to apply. I use my fingers, so that they can warm up the product a bit to make it apply easier. This one is also oil-free, which at first concerned me being that I have dry/normal skin. But it still worked really well and I use now than my MAC concealer.

Milani Nail Lacquers ($4.49)
Milani has some great nail polishes, even coming out with limited edition ones. They are long-wearing, and very easy to work with. I only have a few Milani polishes, but every time I buy some, I know they are going to be very smooth and give gorgeous color. One of my favorites is Milani Dress Maker. A very popular color that was hard to find for some.

So there are my Brand Bests! All prices and pictures are from Milanicosmetics.com

What are your favorites from Milani? Let me know!

Brand Bests #11 - Wet N Wild Cosmetics

November 22, 2010

How can you not love a brand that gives you quality products at an affordable price? Wet N Wild cosmetics has been around for some time, but recently it's been the brand everyone has been talking about. On Youtube, Blogs, Twitter, everyone wants their products. Since I have a lot of new readers, I want to briefly explain what a "Brand Bests" post is. They are a series of posts of what I think, from my own experience, are the best products from that specific brand. This is my opinion always. So let's see what I picked! :)

Color Icon Eyeshadow Palettes ($4.99)
Yes, everyone is after the limited edition Holiday Color Icon Palettes, but the ones that are always available are great as well. Depending, some colors are either more sheer than others, or more pigmented. Either way I love how I can have all the colors I need to do a look in one simple palette. It doesn't get more simple than that.

Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner ($3.99)
This eyeliner is really as amazing as everyone says. I love the liner, but I don't use the brush. It's just too short for me, so I use my own angled liner brush. I seriously stopped buying the MAC creme eyeliner and use this one. It works just as good, just as pigmented, only cheaper!

Megalast Lip Colors ($2.99)
I did a review and have a couple of swatches of these lipsticks already here, so you can see why they would be in my Brand Bests.

Color Icon Blushers ($2.99)
These blushers work really great and are pigmented enough for a great look. I believe they have a plum one that I have been wanting for Fall, but the two pinkish colored ones I do have, I love. One I have has a bit of shimmer in it, and the other is more matte. I don't know which 2 they are, I got them in the Wet N Wild makeup box.

So I hope you enjoyed my Brand Bests. Wet N Wild Cometics can be found at various drugstores.

What are your favorite products from Wet N Wild? Comment below and let me know!

Review - Carmex Skin Care Products

October 23, 2010

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carmex®. All opinions are 100% mine.

Everyone knows Carmex by their amazing lip balm and lip products. Now they are expanding their line with the new skin care products they have come out with. Carmex now has a new Healing Lotion and Healing Cream.

Now let me explain the difference between the two. The Carmex Healing Lotion is 5.5 ounces and has aloe and vitamin E to moisturize, heal, and protect. The Carmex Healing Cream is obviously thicker and more concentrated made to be for the roughest and driest skin.

Okay now what I thought about the products:

-Scent: They smell exactly what you would expect from a Carmex product. Both have that familiar scent, like the famous lip balm. The Healing Cream has a bit of a stronger scent than the lotion. Not overpowering, just slightly stronger. They smell very medicated at first, which bothered me, but then it kind of fades. After about 15 minutes of having it on, I started to love the after smell. Something very light and refreshing about it.

-Feel: The cream. like Carmex said, is very thick. You only need a small amount and it rubs in very well. After about 5 minutes, it made my skin feel smooth and not greasy at all. The lotion is much more lighter and creamier. The lotion I can see myself using a lot more than the Healing Cream.

-Product Packaging: I like the packaging. I think it works well for each product. Not much to say here, I like it.

-So does it work? Yes definitely works to make my skin softer and not as dry. I also have sensitive skin and I did not react to each one in any way.

So there is my review! I hope you enjoyed and let me know if you would try!

Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream can be purchased for $5.99 each at Walgreens stores, walgreens.com, and drugstore.com

Brand Bests #10 - NYX Cosmetics

October 16, 2010

Yay! I have covered 10 beauty brand in my Brand Bests series. This time was a little different, because I asked you all to pick what brand should be #10. With a landslide of votes, it was NYX cosmetics. I have always had a few NYX products in my makeup stash, but not many. I use way more NYX cosmetics now than I ever have and I love the majority of them. If you pick right, you can find jems that you will love. These are my personal favorites that I tend to use the most. Know that this is from my experience with each item that I have loved from this brand. Here we go!

 NYX Round Lipsticks ($4)
One of my favorite colors from the round lipsticks is Iced Honey. BEST nude lip color ever. These never dry my lips out, and are very true to the color that you get. It says on the website long lasting? They last a few hours but I wouldn't say all day long. Still for being a $4 lipstick, buy some. They are great for the price.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils ($4)
Yes, the famous jumbo eye pencils. If you haven't tried them for yourself, you must. Now I'm not saying they are the greatest thing on the planet. But they are a great base to intensify the eyeshadow color you are going to wear.Don't use too much or it will crease on you.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss ($5.50)

Now that I have tried these, I am so hooked! They smell so good (almost like cherry) and the color pay off is good. They are called Mega Shine for a reason. Also they made my lips soft and moisturized. I carry about 2 or 3 of these with me everywhere I go :)

NYX Studio Liquid Liners ($4.50)
Yes, I had to add these in as part of the Brand bests. I have already done a review and a couple of swatches of these here. So that post can tell you more about why these are part of my faves.

So there you have it! My favorites from NYX cosmetics. All can be purchased at Nyxcosmetics.com, Ulta, or Cherryculture.com

Brand Bests #9 - Hard Candy

September 30, 2010

Already Brand Bests #9? That was fast! But so many great brands and products, I'm not surprised. Hard Candy has probably the cutest packaging and products I have ever seen. Very reasonable, as it is sold at Wal-Mart, and most are good quality products. Have heard some aren't as great as others, but that's why I have these kind of posts. To let my readers know, from my experience, what I think would be great products for everyone. These are my personal favorites that I tend to use the most. Know that this is from my experience with each item that I have loved from this brand.

Hard Candy Mouthing Off Lipgloss ($6)

This is the only picture I could find. This is not the color I own. The one I have is a dark brown with shimmer called Mocha. Wasn't too sure about the dark brown at first, but it's definitely sheer like it says. After about an hour having it on, it completely smoothed out my lips! That was a pleasant shock! I love it so much, I wear it all the time right now, and I will be buying a back up for Fall. Haha.

Hard Candy Just Nails Nail Polish ($5)
MmmHmm.. Yes there nail polishes are amazing. So easy to apply, never a struggle. I have this color and I love it so much! For $5 you cannot go wrong with these polishes. I wish they would come out with more exclusive or limited edition colors, that would be awesome. Also the plastic ring is a bonus that I wear occasionally.

Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer in Tiki ($9)
I really believe for blushes and bronzers, you don't have to spend a lot to get a great one. This one is 9 bucks, and gives me a glowy look to my skin. Not too much shimmer, which I like. It's more pretty than the picture looks. Trust me. This one got my through Summer, and will give me a little color in the Fall.

Hard Candy Sheer Envy Face Primer ($8)

If you are frequent reader of my blog, then you know why this is in the Brand Bests. If you're not, you're missing out. Click here to see the review I did of this primer.

What are your favorites from Hard Candy? Let me know!

EOTD - Golden Night

September 6, 2010

I have been wanting to do a EOTD with gold for a while, and I thought this week would be perfect since New Years Eve is coming up. This was so simple, just a gold and dark brown look. You could definitely use black eyeshadow instead of the dark brown, it's all about your own preference. So here is what I used:

- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Shiseido Cream Eye Shadow Duo
- Yaby Cosmetics Pearl Paint Eye Shadow in Antique
- Napoleon Perdis Eye Shadow Quad 13 (Used the Darkest brown for outer lid, Lightest for Highlight)
- Milani Eye Tech Liquid Eyeliner in Black
- Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Black

Let me know what you think! :)

Brand Bests #8 - Anastasia Products (Brows Edition)

August 29, 2010

Brows make your whole face. No one knows that better than Anastasia Soare, the definitive brow expert. She has been the go-to beauty specialist for top celebs in LA, and has turned perfect brows into an essential. She has expanded her brow products with now eye makeup all available at Sephora. Ever since I first tried her products, I can really say that I am definitely a big fan and will continue to use nothing but Anastasia products for my eyebrows. These are just my personal favorites that I tend to use most often. Know that this is from my experience with each item that I have loved from each brand. This is my opinion always.

 Brow Fix ($21)

Brow Fix is simply brow wax that will hold your brows in place. It's simple, but I personally love having brow wax in a pencil-form. It's way easier and faster to you it this way as opposed with a brush. Plus if I need to take it with me, it's not a hassle.

Brow Stix ($14)

When I have let my ferocious eyebrows get really out of control and in need of a clean up, I use these and just do it myself. I feel like for $14, it's so worth buying for those times you don't have time to go and get your eyebrows done, or simply don't want to spend the money.  It comes with all kinds of different shapes, so your bound to find one for your brow shape. You just place the stencil, fill it in, take the stencil off and tweeze hairs that are outside where you filled, and groom like normal.

Brow Definer ($22)
My most favorite brow pencil and gel all-in-one. Perfect for on-the-go touch ups if I need it. Such a time saver. This pretty much speaks for itself. Just a brow pencil and clear brow gel. Love it.

Highlighting Brow Kit ($32)
This is great for brows and eyelids. Left side is for filling in brows, whatever shade you need. Can also be used wet or dry. Then the right side is for highlighting and the three colors can each be used as an all over eyeshadow as well. Also has a small mirror inside which is great.

All products are available at Anastasia.net, Sephora stores, or Sephora.com

So there you have it! Hope you enjoyed this Brand Bests :)

Brand Bests #1 - Benefit Cosmetics

February 6, 2010

I decided to start doing regular posts on best buys from different brands. Know that this is from my experience with each item that I have loved from each brand. Also I'm going to pick items that are not limited edition, so you can always buys these products in store or online.

First post, we will start off with Benefit. I love mostly everything from Benefit. There are a few things I think that aren't worth the money in my opinion. But these are all the bests that keep me going back for more.

Dandelion Face Powder
I really like all the face powders by Benefit, but this one is my favorite. It's very sheer and lightweight. It has a little bit of shimmer, which I like. You can build the color to either really sheer or dramatic. I rarely ever use the brush. I use my own brush, to me it's better. I kind of wish it wouldn't have the brush and the price would be a little cheaper. But worth it.

I just started using this makeup remover about a week and a half ago. I love this!! I hate some makeup removers that are way too oily or way too drying to the skin. Even makeup wipes sometimes bother me. At night, I just want to take all my makeup off as fast as possible and go to bed. This takes me probably less than 2 minutes to take all my makeup off. Afterwards, it kind of feels like it's going to be oily, but not at all. Your skin is completely soft and hydrated.

I used this all up and now I need a new one. I love this all year long, but really more in the summertime. SPF 15 to protect your skin and very lightweight.  This is probably the only tinted moisturizer I have ever really ran out of and need more. haha amazing.

As most of you have probably seen, I have written about Brow Zings before in my brow post. But it is another Benefit Best for me so here it is again. It has everything with brow wax, brow powder, tweezers, two different brushes. What more could you ask for in a brow kit? Love it.

So these are my favorites from Benefit.

If you have a certain brand you want my favs on, let me know in the comments below.
What are your Benefit Bests?
