Today I have a look at a few velvet matte lipsticks from the Love & Beauty line at Forever 21. I saw these at the store recently and they only had about 4 shades. Forever 21 makeup products can kind of be hit and miss, so I was really curious to see how well these matte lipsticks would work. Would they be cheap and chalky or pigmented and long lasting? Find out how they were below!
The shades I ended up getting are: Bitter Sweet, Fuchsia, and Maple.

I’ve had these lipsticks for over a week now, and I have to say I am really impressed with them! The first things I wrote down about these velvet matte lipsticks were: pigmented, creamy, feels good on the lips, and does not drag when applying. All three of these lipsticks, even the nude shade, were really pigmented with just a few swipes which was great. Mattes can sometimes be difficult to work with, but these were not. They were creamy and applied with ease. If you are wondering about the smell of these, they have that generic “lipstick” smell which I didn’t mind since it goes away once you have the lipstick on.
I have a love/hate relationship with matte lipsticks in general. I love the way they look, but I don’t like the way how after I have them on for a few hours, they suck all of the moisture out of my lips. Even though these Forever 21 lipsticks are cheap in price, they don’t feel cheap in quality. After having the lipstick on for about 3 hours, the color was still in tact and my lips didn’t look or feel super dried out. Of course the color started to fade or would come off a bit if I ate or drank something, but I ended up really liking these. These were definitely worth it and I’m happy I gave them a try.
Forever 21 Lips Amour Velvet Matte Lipsticks retail for $3.90 each and can be found at Forever 21 stores and online.
