Jordana Cosmetics Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain (4 Shades) - Swatches and Review

August 20, 2013

I was really excited to find these new Jordana balm stains at Walgreens recently. Seems like almost ever brand has some kind of balm stain in a big crayon type packaging. I tried others: Revlon, Tarte, Pixi, NYC Color, and Covergirl. So when I was testing these out, I was thinking about how these would compare to those other lip crayons. See more on my review and swatches below!

If I had to pick a favorite balm stain from the different ones that I have tried, I would pink these from Jordana. You can see from the swatches how pigmented these are. There is no hit and miss with these, like one being pigmented and others being sheer. They are all really pigmented and have so much color. Sweet Pink and Tropical Frenzy look similar in the swatches but Tropical Frenzy is more of a bright fuchsia pink, while Sweet Pink is a true pink.

When I was applying the balm stain, it was smooth and glided on with ease. It didn't dry out my lips and kept them moisturized for quite a while. The balm part lasted for 3-4 hours and then once I ate and drank, the color stayed on my lips for a couple of hours more. These lasted just as long as other lip stains I've used. No longer and no shorter.

I also want to mention the amount of product that you get. These Jordana balm stains have 2.7g of product. That is the same amount that Revlon balm stains come with. If I am comparing these with Revlon, I prefer the Jordana ones. They are cheaper, have more pigmentation, and still long lasting.

Recommend? Yes, yes, yes! I love these and you can't go wrong with the quality and price.

Jordana Cosmetics Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain retail for $2.99 each and can be found exclusively at Walgreens or online.

Let me know: which color is your favorite?

  1. have to see them on the lips, balms and glosses can be tricky, they can show on your hands but not on your lips

  2. I saw these at Walgreen's but was waiting for a review! Honey Love looks really similar to Revlon's Honey. Great Review!
