L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Medium - Review

June 28, 2012

Today I have a review of a new BB cream from L'Oreal. I do already use a different brand of BB cream that I absolutely love. I knew it would be hard for me to find something that could compare, but I thought I would give this a try. This BB cream by L'Oreal says that it will prime, perfect, hydrate, and correct all in one. Did it live up to it's claims? Read more to see!

Can you see the Beauty Beads?
I agree with 2 out of 4 of the beauty actions that are listed above. Let's talk about prime first. This does indeed prime your skin and makes it a smooth canvas. Does it hydrate? My skin did feel hydrated, but not anymore than my regular moisturizer could do. How about perfect? It did not hide my imperfections, I could still see them even when layering more onto those areas. Did it correct my skin? It definitely gave me a more even complexion and my skin was softer.
It just felt like a moisturizer with beads in it to me. The coverage was not what I expected from a BB cream. Maybe I got the wrong shade and should of went for dark, maybe that would of made coverage a bit better. But still, I would not re-purchase this. I will still wear it under my foundation, but I just can't seem to wear it alone like I would want. Kind of a bummer. I think I have too high of a standard about BB creams from using this one that I had reviewed. I can't seem to get enough of the 3LAB one.

This retails for $10.95 and can be bought where L'Oreal is sold.

Have you tried this? Let me know what you think!

  2. I was hesitating of purchasing this until I read some reviews from other blogger.  Thanks for your insight.  I'm not sure if I'm the only one who isn't fond of BB creams yet.  I tend to stick with my tinted moisturizer.

  4.  I should really try tinted moisturizers. Which brand do you use? :)

  5. I am trying the new Loreal Lumi foundation.  I think the coverage is better than this BB cream.  It gives the skin a pretty glow.

  7. I used the Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer.  I really like the new packaging and formulated Moisturizer.

  8. Ugh. So frustrated at how "western" companies are basically just rebranding tinted moisturizers and calling them BBs to cash in on the trend! Ten years ago when I worked for Lauder they launched the "self-adjusting" color bead technology. It's a neat little trick, but that's about it.

It just makes me sad, because real BB creams are a unique product, I wonder how many will try one of the mislabeled Western versions and dismiss them entirely.

BTW, I second Missha- my absolute favorite is their Perfect Cover. It's got a high SPF and the best color range I've seen in a BB (the fairest shade, #13, is the only BB I've found that's truly fair enough for me).
