Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms in Peach Kiss and Pink Punch - Swatches and Review

October 5, 2011

When I heard about these new Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balms, I wasn't really that intrigued. I intended to not even find them at all around in my area. I happened to stop and a CVS about 10 minutes away from me to get makeup wipes when I saw a full display of these. Once I saw them, I couldn't leave without buying a few. These two were the last of each kind, so I had one of those "meant for me" moments. Plus, there was a sale this week for buy one get one 50% off. So, I ended up paying around $6 for two.
This is how Maybelline describes Baby Lips Lip Balms:
"Say goodbye to basic lip balm and rediscover the lips you were born to have!
- Lips are instantly moisturised for up to 8 hours.
- Contains active care ingredients, such as shea butter and centella.
- Vitamin Complex delivering powerful anti-oxidants.
- SPF 20 for protection against harmful UV rays.
- After 4 weeks lips are deeply repaired, completely reborn. Guaranteed."

My Review:
Since these are a lip balm, the first thing is the moisturizing part. are they moisturizing? Yes. For a long period of time? No. Once I apply this, I need to reapply within 20 minutes. Now that's a lot of reapplying if you are planning to use this all day long. If that's something that will bother you, then stick with your lip balm. I actually really enjoy these, and don't mind reapplying all day long. I like the fact that I can put this on fast, and I know my lips will have color to them. I've been keeping Peach Kiss in my purse ever since I bought it. I love the fruity smell it has and the nude, peachy, shiny color it gives to my lips. Pink Punch is a great one too, giving a wonderful pink color that is also shiny.
I was even thinking of picking up something like this, where I would have color on my lips but I wouldn't have to deal with the stickiness of a lipgloss. Of course lipsticks, but I didn't want that either. This is a happy medium between the two, and my lips are feeling a bit more moisturized then before. The "4 weeks" claim seen above in the description I can't prove if it's true or not. I will give an update on my Twitter once the 4 weeks is up to let you know if that is indeed true.

So that is my review. I hope it was helpful! Let me know what you think of these in the comments :)

  2. LOVE these!  I've seen a review before but I keep forgetting about them, so thanks for the reminder ;)  .  I tend to focus on my eyes, so I'm always on the lookout for subtle lip colors. Plus, in my (Very!) humble opinion, opaque lip products can really add years to a person's look.  I'll be off now, on a treasure hunt for these.

  5. so many lip balm/tinted lip balm product lately!!! I saw some good reviews by youtube gurus, but they didn't mention that it requires re-appling within 20 minutes (which I think is important to mention it! bec. 20 min is way tooooo short), I think key point for lip balm is that they can last longer and keep the lips hydrating for a decent amount of time, thanks so much for the review (I almost almost get this balm but I'm glad I did not), I think I will stick with my Rosebud & Jack Black lip balm!  :)
