Today I have swatches of the Maybelline The Burgundy Bar Eyeshadow Palette. It has 12 shades that range in the cream, neutral, browns, and of course burgundy categories. I picked up this palette at Walmart and I didn't know what to expect. These kind of products from Maybelline are hit and miss so I wasn't sure what kind of quality it was going to be. The packaging for this palette is pretty standard and the same kind that Maybelline has for all of their eyeshadow palettes. The back has the ingredients and different ways of making the eyeshadows work together. You can use them as quads, trios, or duos. These are just suggestions of course and a way to guide you through ways of using this palette if needed.
Once I started swatching The Burgundy Bar, I noticed how many shimmer shades there are vs. matte shades. Mostly all of them have a shimmer or sheen while 2 on the ends of each row are matte. For me I feel I don't need so many shimmer shades in one palette and would of preferred the beginning of each row to have matte shades as well as the end. The mattes that do come in the palette though are great transition and darkening shades that work well together.
I was sadly still not thrilled with the palette as a whole. The entire top row I have in other palettes and they aren't very unique. I wish since this is "The Burgundy Bar", there would of been a rich matte burgundy eyeshadow. There is a shimmery Burgundy, but I still underwhelmed by all the shades that are shimmer. This palette was just okay for me and not anything to be on the hunt for.
