Liquid Liner Test - Who Do You Think Won? =)

So I noticed I had different kinds of liquid liners in my kit, and decided to do a little test. I plan on doing another in the future of more drugstore brands, but for right now, these are the only ones I have. Now I am a avid liquid liner gal. Every single day when I wear makeup, I'm going to have liquid liner on. Its like a fact with me. And I have to say, that I am constantly buying over and over MAC's liquid liner. This test really opened my eyes and I was beyond shocked! Let's begin!

Here are the liners I used:

Tarte Liquid EmphasEYES Eyeliner in Black
MAC Liquid Liner in Boot Black
Milani Eye Tech Liquid Liner in Black
Migi Liner in Brown
Benefit Bad Gal Liner in Black

Okay so those are the liners. Here they are on my hand:

First test I did was a smudge test. All I did was take my finger and rub on the top of each one to see if they would smear. This is what happened:

Tarte: PASS
MAC: FAIL
Milani: PASS
Migi: PASS
Benefit: FAIL
Couldn't believe the results already. MAC and Benefit?! Those are the most expensive ones! And they failed! Wow!

Moving on, Later on in the day, I did a water test. For this one, I wet the back of my hand, took a paper towel, and pressed down on my hand to see if any would come off or would fade. No rubbing. Here is what happened:

Tarte: PASS
MAC: FAIL
Milani: PASS
Migi: PASS
Benefit: FAIL
I dont even have words for MAC and Benefit. Big let down.

And this last test, I left the liners on my hand all night while I went to sleep. Woke up in the morning, and this is what they looked like:

Here is my ranking of best to worst, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst:

Very very interesting indeed! Buying MAC everytime I run out of liquid liner doesn't look like it's happening anymore. Tarte and Milani were really kind of tied. But I hope you enjoyed this! I will include Milani again in the drugstore test to see how it works against others.

If you have any requests for my drugstore liquid liner test next month, please comment below and let me know the name so I can pick it up and test it!

Thanks girls!

♥ Stephanie

MAC and Benefit I bought on my own. Tarte was won through a giveaway. Milani and Migi were sent by the companies to try.

  1. I am not surprised with MAC's liquid eyeliner. :) Thanks for the post. Check Shu Uemura's Eyeliner pen. It works great! :)

  3. Try E.L.F. in your next one. It's not exactly drugstore but they have it at Target, Kmart and discount stores for about 1 dollar.

  11. I agree, great test! I use Bourjois Liner Clubbing, because it passed my test on my hand when I was in Ulta. It lasted and lasted above all the others I tried(from that store). I'll have to check out Milani. Can't wait for your next one!

  12. great post! If you do decide to do another test with drugstore brands..try it with Maybelline ultra-liner, a waterproof formula, in black. It costs like 4 bucks but it's my go-to liner. I'm curious how it'll do..maybe i may need to switcheroo.
