Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color in Amethyst Potion - Review

October 21, 2013

Lip products are my most purchased makeup product, so it's no surprise when I saw these I just had to buy one to try out. I found an almost full display at CVS recently and I ended up with the shade Amethyst Potion. I knew this color would be great for Fall, but I was really curious about how the formula was going to be. Find out more and see photos below!

What the display looked like at CVS.
More info on the Maybelline Color Elixir Lip Colors:
Fall under the spell of the elixir effect. Hyper-saturated color, ultra cushiony feel. The new hypnotic lip sensation. A trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss. Our exclusive smoothing angora brush delivers a polished, even application and smoothing sensation to lips.

The formula is something that I've never tried before, which makes this lip product more exciting. Once applied, it definitely has that cushion feel like a balm but looks more like a colored gloss. I really love the way it feels on the lips and it seems to keep my lips moisturized throughout the day. I was really shocked at how long it lasted. The lip color lasted hours even through eating and drinking. The glossiness was gone but the color had stained my lips and was still on like I had applied earlier.

There are 20 different shades and I need them all! Seriously, the formula is smooth and one of the most comfortable lip products I've worn. This wasn't super "glass" shiny like it claims, but I'm okay with that. I would rather have the pigmentation than it being super shiny. This is definitely my favorite lip color right now.

Recommend? Yes! I can't find anything negative about this product. Love it!

Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Colors retail for $8.99.
