Maybelline Lip Studio Color Blur (2 Shades) - Swatches and Review

August 5, 2015

Maybelline has had these new Color Blur Lipsticks out for a while now and I knew they were something I was going to need to try. I ended up buying two shades at CVS with coupons and Extra Bucks. The shades I tried are Plum, Please and I Like To Mauve It. See more photos and my review below!

More information about the Maybelline Lip Studio Color Blurs:
Maybelline's Lip Studio Color Blur redefines the rules of color with a cream matte pencil and blurring smudger. The cream matte pencil feels extremely smooth and comfortable on lips, while the blurring smudger creates your own looks from full-on bold to softly blurred. Color Blur comes in 10 shades ranging from vivids to neutrals.
The Maybelline Color Blurs have an insane amount of color that easily just glides onto the lips. They don’t have any type of smell or fragrance. Applying the lipsticks were easy and I did use the other side to blend it out a bit. I didn’t see any benefit to the “blur” effect and using the other side only to blend the lipstick out better. Plum, Please was exactly the color I expected. A deep plum shade that is amazing and super pigmented. The shade I Like To Mauve It was not so much what I expected. It had more of a light pink tone once I applied it on my lips and not the mauve shade I was hoping for. I was happy though with Plum, Please and I can always try a different shade.

I found them to have a great staying power! Once I had the Color Blur applied in the morning, it didn't budge all day. I was afraid it might smudge or fade, but I didn't have any trouble. Even though they are matte, my lips stayed the same. Not so much more moisturized and the lipstick didn't dry them out, they just stayed the same. I was happy with the long lasting results.

These are a little pricey so I wasn’t going to try them without either a sale or coupons. Both came in handy when I bought these and I ended up getting both for under $10. I always consider waiting for a sale when it comes to drugstore makeup or even high priced makeup. I hope Maybelline makes more shades and I would definitely buy more.

Maybelline Color Blurs retail for $8.99 each and can be found at CVS, Walgreens, Target, and other retail stores.
