Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Glosses - Swatches and Review (2 Shades)

September 27, 2012

Today I have swatches and a review of some of the new Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Glosses. The two shades I bought were Plum Luster and Iced Chocolate. I was really excited to try these and hoped I would love them. Also, sorry for the picture not being that clear of the glosses. The blinds on my window made them looked striped. Once I noticed I had ripped the packaging off. See how excited I was! Okay, let's get to swatches!

Plum Luster on lips.
Overall, I really like these lip glosses. There was a difference with Iced Chocolate and Plum Luster more than just the color.

Iced Chocolate ended up being way too light for me and really muted my lips out. I could layer it over a nude lipstick but I wanted to be able to wear it on its own. When I first applied Iced Chocolate, it felt gritty on my lips. I didn't like the way it felt at all. About 2 hours later the lip gloss was still on and felt less gritty. It was smoother but I had less product on, so I needed to reapply. Which again gave me that rough feeling on my lips. It was just a gloss that was not for me.

I was really hoping Plum Luster would not be like Iced Chocolate. Thankfully it wasn't. Plum Luster was smooth when I applied it and I loved the color on my lips. It lasted longer and didn't really fade too much which was great. I seemed to only need a small amount since it was so pigmented. A favorite lip gloss already! I'm definitely going to buy more and see how I like those.

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Glosses retail for $7.99 (will vary) and can be found at drugstores.

Any other shades I should try? Let me know!
